Disclaimer:
===========
You, the user, cannot hold the author, Josh Kreis responsible for any
damages that arise in the use of this program. (I don't think it could do
much damage to your BBS, but I've been wrong before.) I have tested this
program many times and had a couple of local sysops test it also. It has not
caused any problems for me or them. This does not mean it will not/cannot
damage your system. In other words, anything that happens as a result of
this program is not my fault, and I cannot be held responsible.
=============================
What is The Messenger v 1.0?:
=============================
The Messenger v 1.0 is FREEWARE!!! No need to register. The Messenger v 1.0
is a wcCODE program written for Wildcat! 4.12 only. It will post an (ASCII)
text file to up to 15 sysop-definable conferences. This is useful for BBS Ad
posters. If you carry BBS Ad echoes on more than one or two different message
networks, it can get kinda hectic trying to remember where you've posted your
ad and where you haven't. This small WCX will take care of that for you. Run
the program when you want to post your ad and it will post to all of the
conferences you choose and will be out on it's way to meet thousands of
message readers in a short amount of time.
=========================
Installing & Configuring:
=========================
To install The Messenger v 1.0, just create a subdirectory off your existing
Wildcat! home directory. You can call this whatever you want. Like:
C:\WILDCAT\MSGR Then unzip the file MSGR10.ZIP in the directory you just
created. There is a sample configuration file in the ZIP file. Edit MSGR.CFG
to suit your BBS. Make sure you do not rename the CFG file, otherwise, the
program will not know where to find it. This is how you should write your
CFG file:
Josh Kreis <-- Sysop Name
The KIKSTAND BBS <-- BBS Name
All <-- Who the message is to
The KIKSTAND BBS <-- Subject of the Message
kikstand.txt <-- File to input in the message (must be in the program's
5 <-- The rest of the lines are directory)
35 <-- the conference numbers you
113 <-- want your ad posted to.
245 <-- You don't have to use all 15
331 <-- of them, but if you don't
130 <-- use them all, you will need
000 <-- to put to leave the extra
000 <-- lines with three zero's in
000 <-- them. (Make sure there
000 <-- are three zeroes. Not just
000 <-- one. Otherwise, it will be
000 <-- posted to conference 0 too.
000 <--
000 <--
000 <--
***NOTE*** Be sure that the file you want to be imported in the message is
in the program's directory. It will not work correctly if it's not.
========
Running:
========
To run The Messenger v 1.0, you can run it from the command line, as an
event, or from a menu on your BBS. To run it as an event, you can set it up
in the Wildcat! event manager. To run it from the command line you will need
to use this:
WILDCAT /R C:\WILDCAT\MSGR\MSGR.WCX
Or, you can run it from a menu on your bbs. Like from the sysop menu. You
will need to set it up in MakeMenu.
========
